Mowin on the Range:
With the exception of the paint and glitter, this new work is comprised solely of recycled materials. He stands at just under twenty inches tall. Starting out with a reference drawing, (see the embellished paintings page for the inspiration) I used a cereal box combined with tape and paper shredding to construct the body. The hat and head were done the same way. The lawnmower, well that was a bit more tricky. Due to the fact that I used old sculpture wire for the handle the weight distribution of the mower was an issue. A series of nuts and bolts had to be hidden within the structure to counter the handle. She stands and rolls on her own now just fine! The engine is the top of an old juice bottle and the wheels are rubber washers. A set of soda can hands and he was mowin tall!. Be sure to check back soon, there are more sculptures in the works. Thanks for lookin, make sure to enjoy the rest of the site too!
