Exploring iconography and mass marketed popular culture my current body of work is a distinctively authentic and romanticized interpretation of the cowboy icon. I am drawn to the highly ornamented costuming of such Hollywood Cowboys as Gene Autry and Roy Rogers; as a nod to the showmanship of these characters, the seemingly obsessive embellishment within my imagery is an exaggeration for the effect of this very idea. Much like the supporting actors and stage props within each image, one will find that every element is as equally important as it is unimportant. To acknowledge the commodification of the cowboy image, I often use cheap readily available consumer crafts goods such as glitter, rhinestones and stickers as adornment.
